Celebrates its Anniversary with an Inspiring Art Competition
(June 9, 2009). To celebrate a highly successful first year of operations, The Shanti Residences & Resorts recently hosted a painting competition with the vision to nurture the talents of aspiring young artists. This was held in conjunction with SMKN 1 Sukawati, a local senior high school that focuses on preserving different aspects of Balinese artistry. Over 25 students participated in this prestigious event and all art works were exhibited at the luxuriously appointed The Shanti Residence in Nusa Dua.

Acclaimed Balinese architect, Mr Popo Danes,
was just one of the official judges presiding over the competition. Apart from designing distinctive homes and resorts on an international level, Popo is also an active force within Bali’s evolving art scene and founder of the Danes Art Verandah in Denpasar.

All competition participants had the opportunity to see their works exhibited at The Shanti Residence during the opening ceremony. The students were able to interact with invited guests and receive direct feedback from this audience of hospitality and business executives. The sheer creativity of all pieces entered in the competition was outstanding and judges were faced with the difficult decision of choosing an overall winner.

Mr. Kumar Manchharam, President Commissaries of The Shanti Residences & Resorts was impressed by the quality of works on display. He added, “Homes are made of bricks, glass and steel; yet it is works of art that add the soul. I am confident that these aspiring young artists will become masters in the future.”

All properties under The Shanti Residences & Resorts banner pay tribute to Bali’s rich artistic heritage through the use of aesthetic and decorative works. The company hopes to continue supporting Bali’s art scene with regular events and exhibitions that will showcase the creative potential of emerging young artists.
